The full-frame 24.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, with its back-illuminated design, collaborates with the BIONZ X image processor to deliver high-resolution stills and videos. This combination reduces noise and enhances speed. The back-illuminated structure boosts data transmission speed, enabling the creation of 14-bit, high-resolution stills. The sensor has a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200, extendable to ISO 50-204800, ensuring excellent performance in various lighting conditions

The full-frame sensor allows for internal UHD 4K video recording that boasts a wide dynamic range. This is made possible by utilizing the entire width of the sensor. Working together, the BIONZ X processor and a high-speed front-end LSI deliver faster processing times and enable the capture of an impressive 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivity values. This combination of sensor and processor also supports rapid continuous shooting at full resolution.
